Gandhinagar:

More than 30 leaders and workers of Congress including its district general secretary Merubha Gohil today joined BJP.

Gujarat BJP president Jeetu Vaghnai, who welcomed Gohil and other congress leaders and their supporters in the party by putting saffron scarf on their shoulders at BJP state headquarter Srikamalam, said that BJP would emerge victorious in most of the local bodies in which the polls were to take place on February 17.

Gohil and other Congress leaders and their supporters who joined BJP today were from Sanand where polls would also be held for local urban body.

The Congress leaders had joined BJP on a day when the meeting of BJP for selecting candidates for the local body polls was held.
A party leader said that discussions for selection of candidates for the 75 municipalities of the 32 districts where local body polls were to be held in phased manner. The names would be declared soon.
