Kamrej MLA son, aide arrested in threat case, court grants bail

The Gujarat police today arrested Sharad Zalavadiya, the son of Kamrej BJP MLA V D Zalavadiya, and his aide Shailesh Mer in connection with a case of threatening but both of them were released on bail by a local court.

PI Sarthana N D Chaudhari said that both of them were booked under sections 506 (2), 507 and 114 of the IPC for threatening a transporter who had questioned him over excavation of sand from river Tapi on Monday night.

He said that Sharad, who allegedly threatened transporter Alpesh Donda, a resident of Khodiyar Krupa Society and his aide Shailesh Mer, a resident of Kamrej village were arrested today in the case.

They were produced in the CJM court here which granted them bail as the sections leveled were all bailable, the PI said.

.In his complaint, Donda had alleged that Sharad and his associates were excavating sand from Tapi during night hours and their truck passed through his residential society, which is on the riverbank. Donda asked him why excavation was being done during night when it is prohibited after 6 pm.

Sharad threatened him and later also gave him a threat call over mobile phone. He allegedly had asked Donda to leave the city. The audio clip of the conversation had gone viral.

MLA Zalavadiya had claimed that the transporter was a Congress man and the whole case was nothing but a conspiracy to malign his image.
