BJP gets new national headquarters; PM inaugurates it

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the new headquarters of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at 6, Deen Dayal Upadhyay(DDU) Marg.

BJP is the first major national party to move its office outside Lutyens’ Bungalow Zone, following a Supreme Court directive that party offices should be relocated from the area. The plot on DDU Marg was allotted to the BJP a few years ago. Other political parties also got plots in the same area, with a view to getting bungalows in the Lutyens’ Zone vacated.

Two-acre campus of new national headquarters has 70-room new office space in three multi-storeyed blocks. The foundation for new office was laid by PM Modi and BJP President Amit Shah in August 2016. The main building is seven-storey high, and the other two on the side have three storeys each.

“The new office is not just a building or a structure but a symbol of the sacrifices of the party leaders,” the Prime Minister had said at the time.

The WiFi enabled office complex includes underground parking, two large conference halls, auditoriums, studios for spokespersons and other leaders for TV debates, library,digital library, documentation centre, reading room, media centre, link connected to each party office in state capitals. Eateries for party functionaries and visitors.

Amit Shah speaks at inaugural function

This 1,70,000 square ft headquarters is world’s biggest party headquarters said Amit Shah in inaugural function adding that the new headquarters which is ready to function within next hour will have video conferencing facility, more space and facilities for media and IT department, social media room, three gardens(Rashi van, Tirthankar van, Nakshatra van). In one year, every district headquarters will have modern BJP office which is important for cadre based party.
