Surat Police exposes ATM fraud with unique modus operandi

Surat: Kapodra police has exposed a unique ATM scam in which schemer devise with 4G sim card was used to copy and send the data on ATM card and modiefied mobile camera was used to read the pin number.

Police has arrested a 19-year old Sagar Lallu Dhameliya who revealed the modus operandi of this crime.

The scamster would insert a scheme devise in ATM card swipe slot with mini dxt devise which would connect the scheme devise to internet. This devise would copy the data on card and send it to Mumbai where duplicate card would be made.

Another devise fixed to the ATM was a mobile camera with battery and other devise It would be fixed below LCD screen focusing on ATM’s keypad. As soon as a customer would apply the pin number, the device would broadcast it to Mumbai based gang operator.

A duplicate card and pin number were used to flush the cash from ATM in Maharashtra.

A youth arrested has admitted that he was working for one Raj in Mumbai. A green color schemer devise was installed in Dena Bank ATM card swipe slot. N7 mobile’s camera, battery and sim were used to capture the pin numbers.

Dena Bank’s manager has filed complaint in Sarthana police station of Surat.
