BJP wins Kheda district panchayat, improves overall performance compared to 2013, Congress wins Banaskantha

Gandhinagar: The State Election Commission of Gujarat today evening announced the official details of results of two district panchayats and 17 taluka panchayat elections.

Two district panchayats that went to election were Banaskantha(North Gujarat) and Kheda(Central Gujarat).

Congress has got victory in Banakantha district panchayat election by winning 36 of total 66 seats. BJP has won 30 seats.

Out of total 44 seats of Kheda district panchayat, BJP has wown 28 seats while Congress has got 16 seats.

Out of total 350 seats of 14 taluka panchayats in Banakantha district, BJP has got 173 seats while Congress has got 168 seats. Independents have won 9 seats.

In Kheda district, Congress got 13 of 26 seats in Kapadvanj taluka panchayat election while BJP got 9, NCP 2, Independents 2.

Out of 24 seats of Kathlal taluka panchayat, BJp got 12 seats while Congress got 10 and Independents 2.

In 36-seat Gandhinagar taluka panchayat election, Congress got 18 seats while BJP 15 and Independents 3.

5 seats of district panchayats witnessed by-election of which 3 went to BJP while 2 went to Congress.

24 seats ot taluka panchayats went to by-poll, out of which 18 were won by BJP while 6 by Congress.

Reacting to today’s results, State BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya said, in previously held election in 2013, BJP had got 18 seats in Kheda district panchayat while this year it has got 28 which is improvement. Last time BJP had lost Kheda district panchayat election while this time it has won it.

In Banaskantha district panchayat election in 2013, BJP had got 26 seats against which this year it has won 30 seats.

In 2013 BJP’s total district panchayat seats in this two-district election were 44 while this time they are 52. Thus BJP has increased the number of district panchayat seats by 8 number.
