Bill Gates Foundation to invest Rs 35 crore in distill water and waste to power plants in Vadodara

Vadodara: A delegation of Bill Gates Foundation was on visit to Vadodara. The foundation proposes to set up distill water producing plant and waste to power generation plant in the city at investment of Rs 35 crore.

The foundation proposes to set up a liquid sludge management plant at Atladra STP. Estimated production of distill water in next three years is 2,73,75,000 litre while power generation is estimated at 5,47,000 unit in same period.

100 MLD sewage water will be treated at Atladra sewage treatment plant. The treated water will be discharged in Vishwamitri river.

400 kg/day sludge from sewage will be processed to generate 2000 unit/day power. Of this 1500 units will be utilized to run the power plant while 500 units will be supplied to Vadodara Municipal Corporation. Dry sludge will be used to make distill water through boiler process. Atladra site witnesses 400 mt dump of which 40-50 mt will be used as fuel in boiler.

Bill Gates foundation will take up this project as Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) project. It will spend Rs 30-35 crore for installation, operation and maintenance of plant.
