After strong protest by India in DG level border meeting in Pakistan on regular illegal intrusion of boats in Indian territory, BSF intensifies patrol in Creek area

Bhuj:

The Border Security Force (BSF) has intensified patrolling in Creek area adjoining Kutch district in Gujarat following the strong protest by India on the issue of regular intrusion by Pakistani boats during a recent DG level meeting with Pakistan, a senior official of the force said today.

The officer said that the DG level border meeting was held earlier this month in Khokhropar border town situated in Tharparkar District of Sindh province in Pakistan.

‘We clearly told Pakistani officials that the unauthorized entry of Pakistani boats in our territory was unacceptable. They tried to play it light by saying that the boats of fishermen enter in to Indian territory inadvertently but we told them that the word ‘inadvertent’ was being misused,’ he said.

‘In fact we told them that it all might be an attempt to enter terrorists in Indian territory in the garb of fishermen. It is termed inadvertent even though all this is being done knowingly. It was because the punishment for those caught in case of inadvertent crossing of borders was much less than the wilful intrusion,’ the DIG rank official said.

‘We told the Pakistani officials that we are going to take a very strict stance and that is what we have done. Now the whole creek area is being dominated by us and intensive patrols have resulted in catching of two big Pakistani boats in less than five days time,’ he said.

‘Since July last year over 50 Pakistani boats have been caught of which most were 25×4 ft small fishing boats but now we are not sparing even bigger boats,’ he said.
