Congress gives notice for removal of speaker Trivedi

Gandhingar:

Deputy leader of Congress Legislature Party Shailesh Parmar today gave a notice under article 179 of the constitution for moving a resolution for removal of Gujarat Assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi from his post.

Assembly Secretary D M Patel confirmed it.

Parmar has given the notice after the decision Trivedi to suspend Congress MLAs from the house for the day today after ruckus on the issue of tax on petrol and diesel in the state. LoP Paresh Dhanai said that the speaker was not behaving the way he should. He was suspending or taking decision against Congress MLAs arbitrarily even without any advice from the parliamentary affairs minister which was a tradition.

As per the rule the notice should be given 14 days in advance after which the resolution is moved in the house for voting on it.

However, the ruling BJP was trying to solve the matter by way of consultation or meeting.

Though the BJP can easlily defeat the resolution if moved in the house yet it would cause some embarrassment to the ruling party.
