Shivanand Jha is new DGP of Gujarat Police

Gandhinagar: 1983-batch Indian Police Service(IPS) officer Shivanand Jha is new Director General of Police(DGP) of Gujarat.
Jha would replace incharge DGP Pramodkumar as State police chief. Pramodkumar is retiring today from the service.
Jha is presently heading the State Intelligence at present as DGP, CID (Intelligence), Gujarat State. Jha has served as Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad and Surat. During the year 2002 riots, Jha was responsible for sensitive areas including Juhapura.
Gujarat has not seen regular DGP in last three years after PC Thakur. In light of the recent judgement by the Gujarat High Court, Jha is appointed as regular DGP.
Jha is likely remain as DGP of Gujarat State for next two years.
