Junagadh:
The forest department team has rescued a dehydrated young leopard from the bed of a dried up rainy river that flows through Gir forests in Junagadh district of Gujarat.
The incident has take place close on heels of the incident of rescue of another leopard who had fallen in a well in neighbouring Gir Somnath district and remained trapped there overnight earlier this week.
RFO H V Sheelu today said that the around 5 year old leopard was found lying in the bed of dried up river Meghal near Lathodra village under Maliya Hatina taulka of Junagadh district yesterday.
It was badly dehydrated and would have died if it was not sent to the Amrapur animal care center for treatment, he said adding that the health of the beast was improving.
Notably, another leopard which had fallen in an open well in Manekpur village under Una taluka of Gir Somnath district on Tuesday night and had remained there overnight was later rescued on Wednesday. That beast was caged and sent to Jasadhar animal care center.
