More godowns in Gujarat to store agriculture produce

Gandhinagar: 183 cooperative groups in Gujarat have this year prepared projects to build new godowns. Once they are built, the storage capacity will increase by 49,305 mt.
This detail was shared by Cooperative minister Ishwarsinh Patel in the Gujarat Assembly today.
He said the total agri production in Gujarat in year 1995 was about Rs 14,000 crore while today it is Rs 1.40 lakh crore. With increased production, there’s a need for more storage capacity. The State government offers assistance for building 100 – 500 mt storage capacity godowns. Government has fixed Rs 55,170 per sq ft cost for construction of godowns. In addition to this the government also offer Rs 3,784 per mt assistance.
