Surat records near 40 temperature, met predicts gradual rise in mercury in next 2-3 days across Gujarat

The met department has predicted gradual rise in maximum temperatures in next 2-3 days even as the maximum temperature in Surat today touched nearly 40 ° C (39.4) and at least 9 place across the state seeing mercury either touching or crossing 38 ° C.
Surendranagar with 38.7 ° C saw the second highest maximum temperature.
The met bulletin of the Ahmedabad met center today said that Northerly to North Westerly winds bringing dry heat from Rajasthan were prevailing at the lower levels.
It has predicted “GRADUAL INCREASE IN MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE VERY LIKELY OVER THE REGION DURING NEXT 2-3 DAYS.”
Which indicates that the first 40 to above 40 °C temperature this pre-summer season was around the corner.
The met bulletin however said that there won’t be any large change in the minimum temperatures over the region in the next 2 days.
Ahmedabad city today recorded a maximum of 37.4°C which was 0.7° C above normal however the minimum at 20.1 °C was almost a notch below normal.
