Gujarat Mahila Congress president Sonalben takes back her resignation

Ahmedabad/New Delhi:
The president of women wing of Gujarat State Congress committee Sonalben Patel, who had resigned from her post along with her supporters on March 12 to protest against the impostion of ‘parachute’ candidate Amiben Yagnik in recent RS election, today took back her resignation.
Talking over phone from New Delhi Ms Patel said that she had a positive meeting with All India Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev and Gujarat Congress in-charge cum AICC general secreary Ashok Gehlot ji today after which she took back her resignation.
‘The two leaders gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by us and me and other woman leaders from Gujarat who had offered to quit have taken back our resignation letters,’ she said.
Notably Patel had said that she had resigned owing to the fielding of ‘parachute’ candidate for the Rajyasabha election in Gujarat ignoring other dedicated and more senior woman cadres/leaders of the party.
‘The high command said that it would not allow the parachute candidates but it has done the contrary. I have sent my resignation,’ She had said.
