Body of yet another lion found in Amreli district of Gujarat, died of snake-bite

Close on heels of recovery of the body of a lion in the district, another such body of a big cat reportedly died of snake bite was found near Gorana village under Khamba taluka of Amreli today.

DCF Dhari M Kadupasami said that the body of one to one and a half year old old male lion was found near a farm in the village. The post -mortem report confirmed that it had died of snake bite.

Earlier on February 25 the body of yet another lion was found in the Dungar range of Rajula taluka of the district.

Notably, prior to that the body of a lioness was found from the bed of Meghal river in Maliya Hatina taluka of neighbouring Junagadh district on February 18.

In the last 24 hours the bodies of 2 dead female leopard were fished out from different villages in Gir-Somnath district.

The Gujarat High Court had recently hearing a suo moto matter had issued notices to the state and center seeking detailed report about the steps being taken to prevent the unnatural deaths of lions in Gujarat. In the last two years of the total 186 deaths 32 were unnatural.
