E-memo to return from April 15 in Ahmedabad, how to pay it online
April 10, 2018
Ahmedabad: E-memo system is back from April 15. Till January this year, daily 6,000 E-memos were generated through 254 CCTV cameras while now 1320 CCTV cameras are at work. After installation of further 4,680 cameras, total 6,000 cameras across 130 junctions will be used to generate e-memos.
Till January this year, E-memos were posted through postal department mail. The city police is planning to issue E-memo through SMS in future.
Under the Smart City project, the main control room to receive camera feed has been set up at Paldi by Municipal Corporation. The footage will be sent to Traffic department so that it can generate E-memos.
One can pay fine in police station, police commissioner office, any branch of the State Bank of India(account required). One who pay fine in the bank will need to pay Rs 18 extra.
Online payment of fine will be possible on www.cpahmedabad.gujarat.gov.in and www.payahmedabadechallan.org .
While paying E-memo fine, no documents will be required. One original photo identity card will be enough apart from photocopy of E-memo or SMS-memo.
Non-payment of E-memo will attract N.C. complaint. In such case, the accused will need to approach court to pay fine. This is however under consideration and not finalized.
If a person gets E-memo for five times or more under Motor Vehicles Act 184, he/she can face suspension of driving license.
E-memos will not be generated just through static CCTV cameras, but also through mobile cameras given to traffic cops deployed on the roads. They will capture pictures of traffic violation in their mobile phone, based on which E-memo will be issued.
