10,000 ponds to be excavated and further deepened before monsoon: Rupani

Junagadh: Speaking at his native village Chanaka in Saurashtra, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today said the State government will start a movement for deepening the ponds from 1st of May with people’s participation. As many as 10,000 ponds will be excavated and further deepened before upcoming monsoon, he added.

He said Narmada canals will be cleaned and forest check dams will also be further deepened as part of the movement.

Rupani said 34 rivers will regain life through this movement.

He said 36 dams will be filled with Narmada water under SAUNI project this year, while in 2019 all dams under SAUNI project will be filled with water.

The Chief Minister attended a mass wedding function and dedicated Rs 642 lakh development projects during his visit to native village. Most of the works were about water and power supply.
