Report of D K Trivedi Commission to be tabled in Gujarat Assembly in Monsoon Session: MoS Jadeja

Gandhinagar:

Gujarat government would table the report of Justice D K Trivedi Commission pertaining to the probe of the incident of mysterious death of two children studying in the Asaram Ashram Gurukul here, on the floor of Gujarat assembly in the monsoon session of the house.

MoS Home and Parliamentary Affairs Pradipsinh Jadeja today told newsmen here that the report would be tabled in the monsoon session.

On July 5, 2008, decomposed bodies of Dipesh Vaghela (10) and Abhishek Vaghela (11), who were studying at Asaram’s Gurukul, were found in mysterious circumstances on the banks of Sabarmati River, behind the Asaram Ashram here. After protest on the issue, the state government had in July 2008 set up the probe panel with retired Gujarat High Court Judge D K Trivedi as its chairman. The commission, which was originally instructed to submit its findings in 3 months had got several extensions and handed over its final report to home department in July 2013. It is yet to be tabled in the assembly.

CID-crime had in 2009 registered a case against seven followers of Asaram Bapu. Asaram himself had deposed before the Commission where he termed allegations against him (alleged sacrifice of the children as a ritual) as a conspiracy to malign his Ashram and Hindu religion.
