72.99% pass class 12 Science stream exam of Gujarat Board in 2018; 8.9% less compared to last year

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board today declared its results of class 12 Science stream exam held in March this year with an overall pass percentage of 72.99% which was almost 9% less than that of last year.

Girl students with 74.91% of pass percentage have out-shined boys who have 71.84% pass percentage.

Rajkot district has best results with 85.03% while Chhota Udepur was at the lowest rung in this regard with just 35.64%.

The pass percentage for English medium was 75.58% while that for Gujarat medium was 72.45.

Board Chairman A J Shah said that of the total 134352 candidates appearing in the exam 98067 have passed.

136 have passed with A1 grade while 2838 with A 2 grade.

Last year the total pass percentage was 81.89%.

Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said that it was not possible that each year the result superseded that of last year. ‘We must be happy that the overall standard of education in Guajrat has improved,’ he said.

Notably, the result of GUJCET 2018 organized on April 23 for admission to engineering and degree/diploma pharmacy courses in Gujarat state is also declared today.

Exam Secretary of the board R J Junakiya today said that the results would be distributed at various centers made for the purpose across the state from 1000 hrs to 1600 hrs today. The results have also been put on the board’s web site www.gseb.org for viewing online.

He also said that the results of non Gujarat board aspirants of GUJCET 2018 would be sent by post.
