Bhuj: DGP Shivanand Jha has handed over the investigation of a case pertaining to social media comment in Kutch to Ahmedabad Crime Branch.

Dalits belonging to Maheshwari Mehgwal community had blocked highway in Gandhidham town of Kutch district protesting Facebook comments insulting Dhani Matang Dev.

There were protests at other places too including the district headquarters Bhuj.

As the local police couldn’t get success in this case, the State DGP has handed over it to Ahmedabad Crime Branch which has expertise in cyber crime related investigations.

Papers of this case are to be transferred to DCP Ahmedabad Crime Branch office.

In related development, Kutch West Superintendent of Police Bharada has handed over cyber crime department to four cops including Special Operation Group Sub Inspector S.A.Gadhvi with parole furlough squad at their help.

In another incident, Bhuj based Pravin Charan was booked for hurting religious sentiments through a Whatsapp message on complaint by Mehmood Amad Manjothi in city’s ‘B’ division police station.
