Pre-monsoon rains in Savarkundla, Gariadhar and Saputara

Gandhinagar: Parts of three districts in Gujarat – Amreli, Bhavnagar and Dang received round of shower later in the afternoon on Saturday.

Small towns Gariadhar in Bhavnagar district and Savarkundla in Amreli district received heavy rain. Water logging was witnessed in both towns during and after the rains. River Navli was ‘flooding’ due to heavy inflow of water from catchment areas. A Maruti Van car was swept in this ‘flood’. None was hurt or dead in this incident. Liliya was another town where heavy shower and water logging was witnessed. Some local state highways suffered blockage due to uprooted trees. The maiden round of showers this year in this region was around two-hour long.

A round of shower in tribal populated district Dang in South Gujarat was comparatively lighter. Gujarat’s only hill station Saputara was among places in Dang that witnessed rain.

Indian Meteorological Department(IMD) had already predicted scattered rains in four-day period post 30th May.
