Binaben Acharya elected as new Mayor of Rajkot

Rajkot: BJP councilor Bina Acharya was today elected as new Mayor of Rajkot city. Councillor Ashwin Moliya has been elected as Deputy Mayor. Very experienced councilor Uday Kangad has been made the Chairman of Standing Committee as expected. Dalsukh Jagani has been made leader of ruling party while Ajay Parmar has been appointed as whip. The new mayor has been associated with Lions Club and has also served as joint secretary of women’s wing of Greater Rajkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Rupaben Shilu who was hoping to become Mayor was spotted with tears in her eyes. She however said she accepts party’s decision. Announcement of names for the posts was made by city BJP president Kamlesh Mirani after email for same received from state party headquarters. Mirani said that the state BJP parliamentary board’s decision was reflecting the feelings of party’s city unit.
