Govt will not tolerate divisive forces involved in disturbing social harmony: Jadeja

Gandhinagar: In the backdrop of an attack on a Dalit youth in Becharaji tehsil of Mehsana district on June 14, Minister of State for Home Mr. Pradipsinh Jadeja today asserted that it is utmost priority for the state government to maintain social harmony and harmonies among the different societies. The state government would take stern actions against such divisive elements.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani expressed a feeling of sorrow over the sordid incident and instructed the administration to make a detail investigation into it. Adopting a sensitive approach towards the incident, the state government has made adequate police protection for the Dalit family.
On June 14, two youths from Darbar community had attacked the Dalit youth and beaten him with a bat and kicked with legs, along with verbal abuses, a video of which was made viral on the social media. Taking a serious note of the incident, the state government had instructed the superintendent of Mehsana district to pursue the victim’s family to file a police complaint. On the basis of their complaint, a case under the atrocity act, kidnapping, and I.T. Act was registered, Mr. Jadeja said.
He further stated that for judicious and fair investigation of the incident and prompt arrests of the culprits as many as 14 teams were formed under the direct supervision of district superintendent, rang IG, and state police chief Mr. Shivanand Jha.
The minister further added that the stern legal actions will be taken against those who are indulging in such incidents in the society. The state government would also take severe steps against elements involved in spreading misunderstanding between communities and places of religious faiths using the application such as Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media applications. Police department was also instructed to ensure the prevention of misuse of the social media.
