5900 to go for Haj from Gujarat this year, annual training begins

Chairman of Gujarat state Haj Committee Principal Mohamed Ali Qadri today said that 5900 people from the state would go for Haj between August 1 to 15 this year.

On the occasion of start of annual training for Haj in Patan today, Qadari also said that from the next year Haj pilgrims could utilize the cheaper sea route to reach Saudi Arabia by Ship.

‘This year out of 44000 applicants for Haj, 5900 were selected. They will go for Haj through 23 flights,’ he said.

‘From this year as per union government’s decision the subsidy on Haj has been ended. However from next year cheaper mode travel for it in the form of Ship would be allowed,’ he said.

He also expressed his annoyance over the provision by Saudi Arabia government to fine those people who go for Haj for the second time. ‘We are opposing this fine of 2000 Saudi Riyal which amounts to Rs 35000/-,’ he said.
