Gujarat to confer minority status to Jews in the State: Chief Minister Rupani to Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu in Jerusalem

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has taken in-principle decision to confer the status of minority to Jews in Gujarat.

During his meeting with Israel Prime Minister Bejnamin Netanyahu on the second day of his 6-day Israel visit, Chief Minister Rupani said the State government will soon issue a notification for the same.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister called on the Agriculture and Rural Development minister of Israel and approved a joint-working group of Israel and Gujarat for exchange in agriculture, horticulture and other areas. The joint-working group will be led by additional chief secretary of agriculture welfare department Sanjay Prasad. It will be a Government to Government(G2G) group which will also explore scopes for Business to Business (B2B) level collaboration between Israel and Gujarat.

In another development during Rupani’s Israel visit, irrigation system company Netafim which has also its manufacturing unit in Central Gujarat will give gift of 100 digital farming units to Gujarat farmers. According to a note issued by the State government, the digital farming unit will have censor equipment which will collect real time information of soil, atmosphere, moisture availability, condition and health of crop and transmit these details through censors cloud based technology and artificial intelligence/machine learning technology for further analysis. Such system is useful for automation of drip irrigation technology and save water and fertilizers.
