Woman files trespassing complaint against Alpesh, Jignesh, Hardik; alleges they came with two pouches of liquor and planted in her home

Gandhinagar: A lady Kanchanben Zala has filed trespassing complaint against Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor, Congress backed independent MLA Jignesh Mevani and Congress supporting agitation leader Hardik Patel in sector 21 police station here.

Thakor, Mevani and Patel had as part of their day-long ‘Janta raid’ campaign earlier this week entered into a house in Gandhinagar with a group of over dozen supporters and ‘found out’ two pouches of country liquor. They had later condemned the government for ‘alcohol being sold at a distance of 100 metre of District Superintendent’s office at Gandhinagar.’

District Superintendent of Police had however soon addressed the media and claimed that no liquor making substance was found from said house and there was an allegation that couple of pouches ‘found out during janta raid’ by Thakor, Mevani and Patel were placed by someone with them.

‘We four ladies were having tea in kitchen. They came with liquor pouches and entered out house. There was no male in our house. A four-year old child in our house was shocked and crying. He is ill at present. We never have been in liquor business,’ said Kanchanben today while speaking to media persons.

Kanchanben’s son Mohabbatsinh said, ‘my mother was ill. These people have harmed our prestige in community. Police was initially not ready to take complaint, but we threatened further procedure and so police finally accepted our complaint.

Mohabbatsinh said his father was into liquor business but that was a long time back. After he passed away I am running paan shop. I was out when they came to our place.

‘They did so for politics, in order to let down the government,’ Mohabbatsinh further said.

Complainant has told police that Pravin Bharwad brought liquor pouches while Mukesh Bharwad and Chetan Thakor were also involved. All three are part of Alpesh – Jignesh – Hardik group that conducted ‘janta raid’.

DSP of Gandhinagar had earlier termed the ‘so called janta raid’ of Thakor, Mevani and Patel as pre-planned political publicity attempt. He had said, ‘Police reached the house and it was searched entirely. No substance or things for making liquor was found out. Two pouches containing 400 litre liquor were claimed to have found out by Thakor, Patel, Mevani and others. It was less than half a litre liquor. Kanchanba, a lady in the house said she had not brought the liquor. She also said that if she was into liquor selling or manufacturing, there would be more liquor in the house and liquor making tools too. She claimed that a boy was entering her house with two pouches of liquor. When stopped he sat outside the house. Pravinbhai Lakshmanbhai Bharwad was the person and he was with Thakor, Mevani and Patel. Kanchanba claimed pouches were brought to her house by others. This was a pre-planned publicity attempt, possibly for political reasons.’

Police has booked 15 including Alpesh, Jignesh, Hardik and Pravin Bharwad.
