Over 3500 shifted, 500 rescued, total rain-related death figure of season reaches 29: Relief Commissioner of Gujarat

Over 3500 people in rain affected areas of Gujarat have been shifted to safer places while over 500 rescued/evacuated by NDRF alone in last 24 hours and the accumulated death figures this monsoon has reached 29 with recovery of the body of a 19 year old boy in Rajkot today, relief commissioner Manoj Kothari said.
He also said that 20 NDRF teams are present in Gujarat. They have rescued over 400 people in South Gujarat and around 100 in Saurashtra in last 24 hours. 8 NDRF teams are in Saurashtra or which 4 are in worst affected Gir Somnath district and one each in Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar and Rajkot. 2 teams were on stand to in South Gujarat while one each have been deployed in Valsad, Navsari, Vapi and Surat. One team each is in Aravalli, Mahisagar and Gandhinagar while 3 were in stand-to mode in Vadodara.
He said that total 184 roads including state and national highways and rural panchyat maintained have been blocked due to water logging/flood. Electricity supply in around 180 villages has also been affected.
He said that of the 203 big dams 5 were full, 6 were 91 to 99% filled up, 4 up to 90%, 5 up to 80%.
