CM worships water of Atal Sarovar, launches tree plantation at racecourse -2 in Rajkot

Rajkot: Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani today worshiped the water of Atal Sarovar and performed tree plantation in a function organised jointly by Rajkot Municipal Corporation and Forest Department at Racecourse -2 of Rajkot. Mr. Rupani said that in last May month biggest water conservation campaign ‘Sujalam Sufalam Jal Sanchay Abhiyan’ was taken on hand with the collaboration of people of the state. Similarly, a comprehensive program of planting tree will be conducted in the month of August to make Gujarat green. Plantation will be done in various areas including the bank areas of lake. This year Gujarat expresses desire to plant 10 crore trees.
Today we have surplus power and we want to be surplus in water. The State Government has five year plan for water. Government is moving forward in the direction to make water crisis, the past of Gujarat. Government sets up plants at seven places including Jodiya, Dahej and Kutch to make sea water drinkable.

Rupani said that during the Sujalam Sufalam Jal Sanchay Abhiyan about 18000 water accumulation works have been done and the water storage capacity has been increased by excavating 13 thousand million square meters of land.

Rupani briefed about Gujarat’s development in various fields. Chief Minister along with other dignitaries planted about different 14 types of plants. Approx. 1111 trees will be planted in this area. He also appealed the people to join the plantation program and make Rajkot green city.
Rajkot Mayor Beenaben Acharya briefed about Mr. Rupani’s contribution to Rajkot and said that Atal Sarovar will be built at a cost of Rs.40 Crore. She also showed the commitment of Rajkot Municipal Corporation for the development of Rajkot.

Rajkot Municipal Commissioner Banchha Nidhi Pani giving the details of tree plantation program and the Atal Sarovar said that 50,000 trees will be planted in Rajkot city.
