GSRTC buses given 3-month conditional access to BRTS corridor in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: In order to reduce the burden of traffic in mixed lane, The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) has decided to give conditional access to Gujarat Start Road Transport Corporation(GSRTC) buses to use Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) corridor for three months on experiment basis.
GSRTC had sought nod to run its buses in BRST corridor in Ahmedabad. Several meetings were held to discuss this issue. It’s worth noting that present Municipal Commissioner Vijay Nehra’s previous posting was in GSRTC.
A 97-km long Janmarg Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) corridor witnesses operations of 223 buses including 189 Air Conditioned buses on 13 routes accomodating around 1.50 lakh passengers daily. BRTS corridor is also used by 248 AMTS(Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service) buses. Several AMTS routes were in recept past allowed to operate in dedicated BRST lanes.
