Gandhinagar:
Amid rising prices of edible oils in Gujarat just before the festive season, Minister,
Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Jayesh Radadiya today said that the government is keeping a close watch on the situation.
Talking to newsmen here he said that the government would monitor the situation and not allow the black-marketeers or hoarders benefit from the situation.
‘The government would ensure that the supply of edible oils and other important items including sugar and salt in not manipulated by black marketeers or hoarders during the festive season starting with Savan and before that,’ he said.
To a query about whether the current increase in groundnut oil prices has connection with the groundnut soil mixing scam, he said that some rise in the prices due to increased demand before and during festive season is seen but the government is keeping a watch on it and won’t allow manipulation in it.
Notably, a rise of around Rs 70 per tin can in groundnut oil and 40 in cottonseed oil, two of the main edible oils in Gujarat have been registered in past 4 to 5 days.
