Good news for water-starved Gujarat, met issues heavy to very heavy rainfall warning from August 17

Ahmedabad:

There is good news for farmers and citizens of Gujarat, which is on the verge of another ‘water-crisis’ due to a prolonged ongoing dry-spell in this western state as the monsoon in all likelihood is going to re-active handsomely from August 17.

The met department today issued heavy to very heavy rain warning for August 17,18 and 19 and the spell might extend even further though with a decreased intensity.

The even better news is that parts of Saurashtra where the farmers were badly waiting for a good-spell of rain for their parching crops is also likely to get it as per the latest forecast.

The rain is to be causes by a system over Bay of Bengal.

The rainfall warning issued by met department for the next 3 days is as follows-

August 17- Heavy to very heavy rain very likely at a few places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Narmada, Surat, Bharuch, Chhota Udepur, Dahod; in the districts of Saurashtra namely Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Diu with isolated extremely heavy falls very likely in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Tapi, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Daman , Dadra Nagar Haveli.

August 18 : Heavy to very heavy rain very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Dahod, Chhota Udepur, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli; in the districts of Saurashtra namely Botad, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Diu.

August 19: Heavy rain very likely at isolated places in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Surat, Valsad, Navsari, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli; in the districts of Saurashtra namely Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Porbandar, Diu.
