Trough caused up to South Gujarat will cause some good rainfall tomorrow and day after

Ahmedabad:

A depression lies over Chhattisgarh and adjoining Vidarbha region of Maharashtra and is very likely to move West-northwest wards and weaken gradually into well marked low pressure area during next 24 hours while a trough (long strip of low pressure area) from the system has extended up to South Gujarat region and extends between 3.1 to 5.8 Km above mean sea level .

Under the influence of this trough some good amount of rain including some spells of heavy to very heavy rain-fall might take place tomorrow and day after tomorrow in South Gujarat and South East Saurashtra, IMD Ahmedabad center Director Jayant Sarkar said today.

He said that Gujarat can’t expect any highly extreme rain due to the trough but on August 17 and 18 there will be increased rainfall activities. He also said that there could be some moderate to heavy and very heavy rain at isolated places in South Gujarat today as well. He however added that the current atmospheric activity was not conducing enough for desired rain in North Gujarat and Kutch region.

Meanwhile, the met bulletin issued by the center this evening said that Heavy to very heavy rains very likely at isolated places in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Dang, Tapi, Surat, Bharuch, Narmada,Chhota Udepur with isolated extremely heavy falls in the districts namely Navsari, Valsad, Daman Dadra Nagar Haveli. Heavy to very heavy rains very likely at isolated places in the districts of Saurashtra namely Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Diu on August 17 while Heavy to very heavy rain very likely at isolated places in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Navsari, Surat, Bharuch; in the districts of Saurashtra namely Diu, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Porbandar, Dwarka, Jamnagar on August 18.

Meanwhile by 6 pm this evening Kaprada in Valsad has seen close to one inch of rainfall, Dangs Ahwa over half and inch rain. Bhiloda in Aravalli district of North Gujarat and Idar and Khdebramha in Sabarkantha district of the same region have also seen around half an inch of rain.. 29 Talukas have witnessed light to moderate rain activity.
