Under the influence of two systems parts of Gujarat continues to get rain

Under the influence of two systems Gujarat is continuing to receive spells of moderate to heavy rains at some place in South and Central parts even as met department has predicted similar spell for tomorrow as well and heavy rain in some districts day after tomorrow.

The met bulletin today said that a cyclonic system lies over South Gujarat region and neighbourhood at 3.1 km above mean sea level and a east-west shear zone along latitude 20 degree north between 3.6 and 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting towards south with height across central India.

Gujarat which has so far seen over 63% of its seasonal monsoon rain, today also recorded light to moderate to heavy rain in 96 talukas by 8pm in the evening. Wagahi in Dangs has seen maximum of 122mm, Valod in Tapi 92mm, Bardoli in Surat and Kaprada in Valsad 74mm each, Vyara in Tapi 73mm, Dharampur in Vasad 55mm, Mahuva in Surat 53mm. In all 24 talukas have seen over one inch rain including Surat city 30mm. In the last 24 hours ending 8am today 112 talukas in 31 districts had seen rain with maximum 73 in Tarapur of Anand district.

Similar rain is expected in South and Central Gujarat tomorrow as well even as the met has issued heavy rain warning for the day after ie August 22 which is as follows –
(August 22) Heavy rains very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat region namely Dahod, Panchmahal, Chhota Udepur, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Navsari; in districts of Saurashtra namely Botad, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Gir Somnath, Junagadh, Diu.
