Ahmedabad: Deputy CM Nitin Patel today said that Congress was creating unnecessary uproar over Petrol-Diesel Prices as it has itself kept the taxes on the two items in the states ruled by it at 25 to 30% while that in Gujarat was lower at 20%.

During an event here today Patel also appealed the people of Gujarat to not to get misled by the Congress’ propaganda on fuel prices.

‘It was the Gujarat government, the BJP government in the state led by Vijaybhai Rupani that reduced the state level taxes on Petrol on Diesel last year before the assembly elections. At that time no other state had done so,’ he said.

He also questioned as to why Congress in the states of its rule was not bringing down the taxes on Petrol and Diesel.

Notably amid rising crude oil prices in international market, the prices of Petrol and Diesel have soared. Congress had yesterday organized a bandh across the country on the issue.
