Running school without approval, cheating in board exams to attract heavy fine, punishment: Bill passed in Gujarat Assembly

Gandhinagar: Gujarat Assembly today passed amendments in certain provisions of Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Adhiniyam 1972.
Schools operting without approval will face Rs. one to two lakh fine as per the amendment approved by the assembly today. Earlier provision had prescribed Rs 100 to 1,000 fine in such cases.
Breach of exam rules (cheating/copying) in State board exams as per the amendments passed today will attract 3 to 5 year imprisonment and upto Rs 2 lakh fine. Earlier provision was upto 2 year imprisonment and upto Rs 200 fine in such cases.
