Emami Paper Mills Ltd to invest 2,000 crore in Gujarat; foundation stone laid for the plant in Bhauch

Bharuch: Foundation stone laying function was held for Emami Paper Mills Ltd facility at Saykha village of Vagra taluka in Bharuch district of Central Gujarat today. Emami Paper Mills said it would invest Rs 2,000 crore for this greenfield multi-player packaging board plant with an initial investment of Rs 990 crore. The foundation stone for the project was laid by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.

Spread over an area of 103 acres, the plant would have a total capacity of 2.25 lakh tonne per annum (TPA) along with an 18 MW captive power plant which would entail an investment of around Rs 1,000 crore in the first phase, the company said in a statement.The company will create around 3,000 direct and indirect jobs through this plant.

In the second phase, the company will double its capacity with an equal and additional investment of Rs 1,000 crore towards installation of a new machine, the company said in its statement.

“Emami Paper is the largest producer of newsprint and one of the leading producers of multi-layer packaging board in India with a total production capacity of 3.35 lakh TPA,” Aditya V Agarwal, director, Emami group was quoted as saying in the statement.

The State government had allotted land for this plant in just 22 days and had given all approvals in 8 month period, said Chief Minister Rupani adding that this was the speediest approved project in Gujarat. He said the company received environment clearance in just three months.
