SUMUL Dairy reduces milk procurement prices

Surat: The Surat District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd popularly known as SUMUL Dairy, one of the 18 dairies of Gujarat associated with brand Amul, has decreased its milk procurement prices from today.

In-charge MD cum GM of the Dairy Arun Purohit said that the procurement prices reduction was a seasonal affair and has been necessitated due to increase in milk supply.

He said that the procurement price of buffalo milk has been reduced by Rs 25 per kg fat and the new rate was Rs 625 per kg fat. That of cow milk has been reduced by Rs 30 per kg fat taking the new price at Rs 580 per kg fat.

He also claimed that despite the first reduction in around an year and a half the procurement prices were still better than many of the 18 dairies of Gujarat associated with brand Amul.

Notably Dudhsagar Dairy of Mahesana and Amul Dairy of Anand had also reduced procurement prices for similar reasons recently.

Sumul dairy on an average procures around 13 lakh kg of milk and sales around 2 million liter per day.
