Heavy rain warning for districts of East Central Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Even as the temperatures had broken record of past over one decade for this period of time in Ahmedabad during last 24 hours, the met department has said that the cloudy weather won’t allow it to go up any further in next two days.

Due to the low pressure area caused by the aftermath of storm Daye that had hit Odisha coast, lying over South West MP and adjoining Gujarat the met has also issued warning of heavy rain for some places in central Gujarat region for the day today.

By 2 pm a total of 17 talukas in Central Gujarat had seen rain with Quant in Chhota Udepur seeing maximum of 54cm, Chhota Udepur itself has seen 38, Naswadi and Bodeli in the same district 13 and 12 mm and Jambughoda in Panchmahal district 12mm.

Ahmedabad city has also seen some drizzle today amid humidity.

IMD center Ahmedabad Director Jayant Sarkar said that because of the low pressure area the East Central Gujarat would see some heavy rain while rest of Gujarat region would see light to moderate rainfall activities. It would be for two days.

He also said that the increase in temperature in Ahmedabad was due to clear sky and sunshine but at the sky has turned cloudy the maximum temperature would not go up.

The met bulletin has issued warning of heavy rain for isolated place in Chhota Udepur, Dahod and Panch Mahal disitricts in the 24 hours commencing from 0830 hrs.

Notably, the state has so far seen only a little over 74% rain so far and the state government has also declared Kutch region which has received around 26% rain as rain-scarce.

Meanwhile due to stopping of rain in the fag end of Monsoon the temperatures have soared again and Ahmedabad which saw a maximum of 38.7 degree Celsius yesterday made a record of sorts for the last one decade.
