Rain continues in parts of Gujarat, heavy rain warning for 3 north and 1 central Gujarat districts

Ahmedabad: The long awaited and much needed spell of rain in Gujarat at the fag end of monsoon is continuing today with many places in rain scanty northern part of the state seeing moderate to heavy rain.
By 12 pm Idar in Sabarkantha district has seen the maximum of 92mm of rain. Bhiloda in Aravalli 42mm, Vijaynagar, Vadali and Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha have recorded 41, 36 and 34 mm rain respectively. A total of 28 talukas have received rain.

More than a dozen people trapped due to sudden surge of river Harnav in Khedbramha area of Sabarkantha were rescued. They had gone for the last rites of a dead body.

The rain being caused under the influence of a low pressure area created after weakening of storm Daye that had hit Odisha few days back, is likely to continue today. The met department has issued heavy rain warning for next 24 hours beginning 0830 hrs this morning for isolated places in Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli and Mahisagar districts.

In the last 24 hours a total of 123 talukas of 19 districts with some in rain scanty North Gujarat had seen rain with the maximum 103mm in Godhara of Panchmahal. Modasa and Meghraj in Aravalli saw 73 and 74 mm respectively. Dahod had seen 85 mm.

Notably in the last 24 hours the state has seen over 1.5% of the total monsoon rain taking the state average to over 76%. North Gujarat was the second most rain scant region with only around 46% of rain so far. Kutch the worst in this regard with a little over 26% has already been declared rain-scarce (wef from October 1) by the state government.
