Latest and perhaps last spell of monsoon in Gujarat adds around 5% to rain-average in parching North and East Central regions

Gandhinagar: The latest and perhaps last spell of monsoon rain in parts of Gujarat this year in last two days has added 2.41% to the state average and also given some respite to rain-scanty North and East Central region of the state.

As per the official data received today in last two days North Gujarat and East Central Gujarat has seen around 5% of the regional average.

North Gujarat which had seen only 42.94% of rain up to September 22 has increased it to 47.83% till this morning.
East Central Gujarat has also increased it from 66.94 to 71,54% during the period.

Even South Gujarat which was best with regard to rain has also seen over one% increase in its average which has risen from 95.14 to 96.34%.

However as no rain occurred in Saurashtra and Kutch regions the average there has seen no change and was constant at 72.76% and 25.51%.

The state average has in last two days risen from 74.16 to 76.57%..

Meanwhile, the monsoon which had become active in Gujarat after a long break is likely to become weak again as the low pressure area caused by the storm Daye that hit Odisha a few days ago is diffusing.

Till 10 am today morning only one place Kheda has received light rain of 2 mm. In the last 24 hours ending 0830 am this morning, 67 talukas of 15 districts had seen rain with Himmatnagar in Sabarkantha district in North Gujarat seeing the maximum 145mm. Bhiloda in Aravalli saw 144mm, Idar in Sabarkantha 115 mm.

The withdrawal process of monsoon from Gujarat which normally starts from September 15, is also likely to start in a few days.
