Sabar Dairy announces second cut in milk procurement prices in one and half month

The Sabarkantha District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd popularly known as Sabar Dairy, one of the 18 dairies of Gujarat associated with brand Amul, has also decided to decrease its milk procurement prices with effect from October 1.
There will be a decrease of Rs 20 per kg fat and the new price would be Rs 600 per kg fat. Sabar Dairy had around one a half month back also decreased the procurement price by Rs 40 per kg fat.
The decision of Sabar Dairy to decrease the price of milk procurement has come close on heels of such decision by Sumul, Dudhsagar and Amul Dairies.
MD of the dairy that procures on an average around 26 lakh liters of milk per day from around 3.5 lakh cattle owners, Babubhai Patel said that reduction was due to slump in the domestic dairy sector and seasonal increase in supply of milk.
