Gandhinagar: Adalaj Police has arrested Congress leader and Thakor Sena cadre Mahotji Thakor for issuance of threats to non-Gujarati migrants. Mahotji is Gandhinagar taluka panchayat member of Congress party. He has been arrested along with four others identified as Kishani Somaji Thakor, Maheshji Babuji Thakor, Baldevji alias Bolo Thakor and Ganpatji alias Suresh Thakor. Mahotji was captured in video while issuing threats to migrants in connection with Congress MLA Alpesh Thakor led Thakor Sena run agitation.

Minister of State for Home, Pradipsinh Jadeja confirmed this development. He said, ‘Congress leader who contested taluka panchayat election for Congress has been arrested in connection with viral video in which he was issuing threats to migrants in Uvarsad village of Gandhinagar. He was threatening and spreading fear among migrants by asking them to leave Gujarat.’

Jadeja said, ‘conspiracy angle is being probed in cases pertaining to attacks on migrants to check the role of those who are without power for last 22 years and who have attempted jativad in the past to come back to power and disturbed the atmosphere of peaceful and secure Gujarat.’

He said 3 cases are registered under IT act for spreading rumors on social media.

He said a video conference will be held at 3 pm today by Chief Secretary with all Superintendent of Police and other officials.

Jadeja said Gujarat is peaceful and secure state and some elements who tried to push Gujarat to Jativad in the past for political gain are now attempting prantvad.
