Shaktisinh Gohil seeks apology from CM Rupani, warns to file criminal complaint and defamation suit

Ahmedabad: Senior Congress leader, party spokesperson and ex-MLA Shaktisinh Gohil today said that if Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani did not tender apology to him in 2 weeks about his remarks alleging him for the violence against non-Gujaratis then he would file a criminal case along with civil defamation suit against him.

Addressing a press conference here Gohil, who is deemed close party president Rahul Gandhi, alleged that the attacks against non-Gujaratis was the handiwork of ruling BJP with an eye on the assembly elections in four states including MP, Rajasthan where as per media predictions the party was certain to lose.

He said that he has proof of BJP leaders including MLA of Himmatnagar indulged in hate speech or messaging against north Indians. He also named BJYM leader Vikas Patel and another leader from Mahisagar in this regard and issued documents pertaining to their alleged involvement in incitement of locals against migrants.

Gohil said that he has also seen a front page news in a local newspaper in which he has been named as conspirator by the CM.

He said that BJP government has failed in creating news employment and caused closure of many small and medium industries, exploited youths in the name of fixed salary, deprived farmers of facilities like water, electricity and failed to provide them adequate price of their corps. Demonetization and GST have also hit the industries and the economy. The prices of petrol and diesel were increasing every day. The rupee has fallen to record low even though PM Modi had while he was CM of Gujarat said that the weak rupee against dollar indicates a weak PM. People were angry due to all these factors.

Gohil said that Rupani should remember that he was a CM and not a leader of opposition party. To maintain the law and order situation was his duty. Why did not he arrest him or others if he had even an iota of evidence. When the violence erupted in Gujarat he was as the Congress in-charge on the visit to Bihar. He said that Gujarat was Gandhiji’s Janmabhoom (birth place) while Bihar was Karmabhoomi.
