On tip off from NIA, Gujarat ATS nabs West Bengal linked fake currency note dealer

Rajkot:The Anti-Terrorist Squad of Gujarat police has arrested one person from Junagadh with high quality fake currency notes of rs 500 and 2000 denominations with such notes of face-value of 1.52 lakhs.

The arrest from near the Junagadh bus stand was made by a team of ATS headed by two woman PSI. It was on the tip off from NIA and the notes were suspected to be made in Bangladesh.

ATS SP Himanshu Shukla said, ‘ a Fake Indian Currency Note (FICN) dealer namely Sanjay Devaliya, Resident of Madhuram Society Area, Junagadh. 53 Fake Indian Currency Notes of Rs 2000 Denomination and 92 Fake Indian Currency Notes of Rs 500 Denomination, amounting to Face Value: Rs 1,52,000 are recovered from the possession of the said accused person. The search and seizure was conducted on an information provided by National Investigation Agency, Mumbai.’

He further informed that the quality of the FICN is prima-facie is of High-Quality FICN, containing security thread, watermark, and other security features. This is the first such recovery of FICN of high quality in Gujarat of the new currency notes. The kingpin of the network is identified and further necessary action is being taken. Sanjay Devaliya was bringing the FICN from West Bengal to be further distributed in Gujarat. The team was headed by Women Sub-Inspectors of ATS, namely PSI S. K. Odedara and PSI N G Gohil.
