October 23, 2018
New Delhi: Delhi High Court on Monday granted interim relief to CBI Special Director (number two in organization) Rakesh Asthana, from arrest in the next six days.
October 29 was set for the next hearing in the case, seen as a turf war among the top echelons of the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Gujarat cadre IPS Asthana filed a petition before Chief Justice Rajender Menon and Justice V K Rao and sought the quashing of a FIR registered against him by CBI.
He further sought from Delhi High Court to ensure that no coercive steps are taken against him.
CBI registered an First Information Report under sections 7& 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act against Asthana on October 15 and alleged criminal misconduct on his part.
