22000 tablets of anti Depressant Alprazolam seized by NCB Gujarat, one nabbed

Ahmedabad: The Narcotics Control Bureau has nabbed one person in connection with illegally sending around 22000 tablets of Alprazolam, an anti depressant and sleep inducing medicine that is also misused as drugs in Ahmedabad.
Zonal Director of NCB Ahmedabad, Hari Om Gandhi today said that the international market value of Alprazolam tablets, which comes under the definition of psychotropic drug under the NDPS Act, was around Rs 75 lakhs.
It was being sent to Ahmednagar from here in a bus. The person who had given it to the driver for Delivery to someone for sale through internet based medicine sellers, has been arrested. He has been identified as one Dilip Parmar, a resident of Amraiwadi area in Ahmedabad city, Gandhi said.
He said that the medicine was a prescription drug which was also a habit forming one and was also misused and mixed with heroin.
