ACB nabs senior official of GPCB for taking bribe/Diwali gifts from Industries , Woman food and Safety Inspector also nabbed

Ahmedabad/Surat: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat police has nabbed a senior official of Gujarat State Pollution Control Board for collecting a bribe/cash as Diwali gift of Rs 1.5 lakh from various industrial units.

It has also today nabbed a woman Food and Safety Inspector rank woman official in North Gujarat’s Patan district for taking bribe as Diwali bonus gift of Rs 15000 from a businessman.

Assistant Director of ACB, D P Chudasama today said that Regional officer of GSPCB office in Surat, Rajesh V Patel was nabbed last evening on the basis of a tip off that he has collected bribe/envelops from various industrial units in Panoli and was going with the money in an Innova vehicle towards his home in Ahmedabad.

His vehicle was intercepted near Jambuwa crossing bypass in Vadodara district and the cash was recovered. As he could not give any satisfactory answer about the cash kept in gift like envelops with some of it containing names of Industries, he was also nabbed.

In another incident a case has been lodged against an Income tax officer in Vapi for taking a bribe of Rs 1.55 lakh from a man who use to lend money to others.Class 2 IT official Ravindra S Bokade had demanded Rs 2 lakh from him to not go ahead for action against him for illegal money lending. When he saw the ACB officials he rashly drove his car and fled with it injuring a policeman. Attempts to arrest him were on.
