Lion dies in Gir after wound in in-fight and related infection

Junagadh: Another lion in Gir forests, reportedly injured in in-fight in Babra range of Amreli district has died.
The around 3 year old male lion had infection in its legs which were reportedly caused by the wound received during the in-fight.
It was kept in the Babarkot animal care center since November 7 and succumbed yesterday evening.
Earlier the incident of death of an around one year old lioness due to reported bacterial infection in Malia hatina area close to Gir forests in Junagadh had come to fore yesterday. The lioness was found dead near Amarapur village recently. During postmortem prima facie it was established that the beast died of heart failure caused by some bacterial infection.
An around 2 year old leopardess had also died in Dalkhania range in Amreli district on Friday due to infection in lungs. In the same range 23 lions had died recently due to deadly canine distemper virus.
