Palanpur: Union Minister of State for Coal Haribhai P Chaudhary today reiterated that that the allegations of taking money leveled against him by CBI official M K Sinha were completely baseless and he would retire from public life and politic if he was proved guilty.
In his address during an event in Samdhi village under his Loksabha constituency Banaskantha in Gujarat, today Haribhai who was keeping mum on the issue since his statement last week, said, ‘ I want to speak about the allegations from this open stage and reiterate that the allegations leveled by the CBI official were baseless. I don’t even know him. The government should do detailed probe in to it and take action against the official. If I am proven guilty I will quit the public life and politics forever.’
Notably CBI official M K Sinha had dragged the names of Minister Chaudhary, Central Vigilance Commissioner K V Chowdhury and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval over alleged attempts to interfere in the probe against CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana in a corruption case. Asthana and the regular director Alok Verma, have been sent on leave following an open feud between the two.
CBI DIG Sinha who was also associated with the probe against Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi in PNB scam had alleged last week that in June 2018, the Union Minister was paid a few crore rupees through a businessman to intervene in the probe.
Earlier the Union minister, in a statement, had also termed the allegations as ‘ absolutely false and baseless’.
