IRMA announces changes in admission procedure from this year

Anand (Gujarat): The Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), a pioneering academic institution in rural management education and research, has made significant changes to its PG Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM) admissions’ 2019 process.

For the current year of admissions, only the CAT 2018/ XAT 2019 scores will be considered for shortlisting during the final selection round. IRMASAT, an exam on ‘Issues of Social Concern’, to be held at IRMA at the time of interview, will be one of the components of the final selection process.

The last date to apply for IRMA admissions’ 2019 is December 31, 2018.

The profile based shortlisting criteria, introduced this year, provide a unique opportunity to students with a relaxed percentile. This has been done with a view to encouraging
candidates aligned to IRMA’s vision and mission. The applicants shortlisted on the basis of their profiles will be given a relaxation of a 5 percentile score. However, such candidates will also need to meet a minimum qualifying score during the entrance exam, a release of the institute issued today said.

The candidates meeting the profile based shortlisting criteria should have scored a percentile of 80, at the very least, for their CAT 2018 or XAT 2019. On the other hand, candidates shortlisted on the basis of their entrance exam results need a minimum percentile of 85 based on their CAT 2018 or XAT 2019 results. Shortlisting for final admission 2019 will be based either on profile or on the CAT/XAT score; only shortlisted candidates will be able to appear for IRMASAT and GD-PI or the Group Discussion cum Personal Interview.

Candidates to be shortlisted by IRMA for profile based calls need to possess an undergraduate degree in any of the following disciplines: Development, Agriculture, Dairy, Public policy, Sustainability, Veterinary Sciences, and Food Technology. They also should have worked in sectors like Development, Dairy, and Public Policy with demonstrable academic excellence along with an undergraduate degree from a top college or university Needless to add, candidates scoring above the 80 th percentile in CAT 2018/XAT 2019 and qualifying the profile based call criteria are eligible for shortlisting during the final selection round at IRMA.

It is worth mentioning that candidates will also be shortlisted separately on the basis of non- profile based criteria during the final selection round at IRMA. These include who score above the 85th percentile for their CAT 2018/XAT 2019 exams while meeting the non-profile based call criteria, the release added.

Notably, IRMA has had a consistent record of 100 percent placements. During Placement 2018 for IRMA’s 37th batch the average salary offered increased to Rs. 11.39 lakh per annum as against Rs. 10.22 lakh last year. The maximum salary for the batch stood at Rs. 46.50 lakh and the lowest at Rs. 3.5 lakh.
