Street dogs enter Sayaji baug zoo in Vadodara, kill 6 black-bucks

Vadodara: At least six black-bucks (an specie of deer/antelope) were tragically killed by stray dogs in Sayaji Baug zoo in Kamatibag area here today.
Two other such animals were also serious.
Curator of the zoo, Pratyush Patankar said that sometime between 5 to 7 am this morning, 3 stray dogs entered the enclosure where all the 11 black bucks or Indian antelopes were kept, by jumping over the outer wall. They killed six of them while 2 others in a high state of shock were also serious. ‘We have kept them separately while the other 3 were safe,’ he said.
Patankar said that the whole zoo was spread across around 43 acres of area while the enclosure of black bucks was of around 700 square meter.
The blackbuck, also known as the Indian antelope, is an antelope found in India, Nepal and Pakistan. The blackbuck is the sole extant member of the genus Antilo.
